Botanic Birds

This series began from a dream I had of flowers forming a bird that couldn’t quite fly, so I picked them and tied them into a bouquet-bird. I sketched this idea out on my nightstand after awakening from the dream in the middle of the night, and it soon became the “Bouquet Bird” drawn in pen and ink. More ideas flew in, and I drew the rest of these surreal birds using wildflowers, vegetables, and other botanicals as reference. I then scanned my ink drawings, and played around with coloring some of them in Adobe Photoshop using a Wacom tablet.
